Happy Foodie Friday! Feeling hungry? Today we head to the Art of Animation for a Quick Service dinner at Landscape of Flavors. My family stumbled upon Landscape of Flavors a few years ago during one of our Christmas trips. A family friend recommended that we check out the resort. While planning our vacation, we planned to take a bus over to Art of Animation to see the resort and figured that we’d grab a bite to eat while there. Landscape of Flavors instantly became a favorite among the Pirone family!
The newest fad is customization. The marketing world is ruled by millennials. Millennials love fresh, customizable food, and they want it fast. Landscape of Flavors is one of the first of its kind at Disney World. The food court offers fresh, made-to-order dishes. The offerings are impressive and definitely not what you’d expect from a Walt Disney World quick-service restaurant. You can create your own salad, pasta, burger and pizza. The menu is broken up into stations. There’s a soup, salad and sandwich station; a world of flavors station with mediterranean-style and vegan and vegetarian food; a pizza and pasta station; and a burger station. There is also an impressive selection of desserts and beverages, as well as a gelato and smoothie station.
The last time we went to Landscape of Flavors, I was in need of something healthy. We had eaten a huge dinner the night before and my body was craving something green. I decided to go with a create-your-own salad. For the sake of today’s post, though, I’m heading to the burger bar. You can choose from a chicken burger, a vegetable burger, or a surf-and-surf burger: a crab cake topped with popcorn shrimp! You can also create your own burger. I’m feeling creative, so I’ll build one!
The burger features ⅓ lb Angus beef burger on a Multigrain Kaiser bun. First we choose the cheese: cheddar, pepper jack, monterey jack, queso fresco, or provolone. Then, we choose from the toppings: tomato, lettuce, dill pickles, sweet onion, avocado, bacon, pastrami, shrimp, remoulade, black bean salsa, chipotle ranch and chipotle barbecue sauce. I’m creating a cheeseburger with cheddar, tomato, lettuce, sweet onion, avocado and bacon. The burger is massive and served with a side of french fries or coleslaw – I’ll go with the french fries.
After finishing dinner, it’s time for dessert. Landscape of Flavors has something for everyone. Have a sweet tooth? The bakery section has a number of impressive desserts, including cupcakes, cookies, pastries and tarts. They even have chocolate-covered marshmallows and frozen cheesecake!
The bakery section also includes gluten-free options from Babycakes NYC. If you’re looking for something healthier, there is a variety of fruits, including clementines, apples and bananas. The real winner is the gelato. The gelato offers a high end dessert option not found at many quick-service restaurants. During Christmas, they usually offer a candy cane flavor with real pieces of candy cane! Normal offerings include birthday cake, chocolate, and pistachio, to name a few. During Christmas, I’m going with the Candy Cane gelato! If the flavor is not available, I’d probably go with the birthday cake!
I would definitely recommend checking out Landscape of Flavors. Take some time during your next trip to tour the Art of Animation – it truly is beautiful. The lobby is bright and colorful and features artist renderings of your favorite Disney characters. Each building has a theme, based on your favorite Walt Disney animated film. I’m partial to Lion King, but that was my favorite movie growing up.
After touring the resort, head to Landscape of Flavors. Landscape of Flavors has something for everyone. Seriously. Looking for a quick lunch? Stop by the Grab-and-Go section and pick up a sandwich, pre-made sushi or a quick muffin or breakfast pastry. The food stations cover every taste – whether you want a simple pizza or a juicy burger stacked with toppings. And dessert? Landscape of Flavors may offer the most impressive variety of sweets! Indulge with a decadent cupcake, a cookie that’s the size of your head, or scoop up some gelato. I like that the food court also offers gluten-free options and fruit. Disney has really been working to meet everyone’s dietary needs. Whether you have a gluten-free diet, are vegan or vegetarian, you’ll be sure to find something at Landscape of Flavors!
