Dates Announced for 2016 Food & Wine Festival

Disney – My taste buds are already doing a happy dance: the 21st Epcot International Food & Wine Festival kicks off September 14 and runs through November 14 this fall. That means almost two additional weeks – from 53 days to 62 – of deliciousness, foodie fun, culinary events, celebrity chefs, seminars, music concerts and more.

My sister and I went to the Food & Wine Festival last year and absolutely loved it. It’s a whole different atmosphere at EPCOT. We went on Friday, November 6th. We were visiting our grandma in Tampa (and going to the Giants vs. Buccs game that Sunday,) so we decided to drive over to Disney for the day. We stayed the night at the Dolphin hotel before heading back to Tampa on Saturday.

We’ve been raving about Food & Wine since coming back. So much so, that we’ve sold our parents on it. We’re in the beginning stages of planning our second Food & Wine trip – a nice warm-up before heading down for Christmas. We’re eyeing Columbus Day weekend and hope that Disney will schedule a Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party that Sunday.

I will say this – you need at least two days. We tried to stuff (and I mean stuff) in as much food as possible on that Friday and we were very full. It didn’t help that it was about 95 degrees outside!

If you’ve ever planned on splurging on a Deluxe resort, this is the trip to do it. We’ve never stayed at any of the EPCOT resorts, let alone a deluxe one! However, being so close to the park really paid off. We were able to head back to the hotel for two hours and hop in the pool to cool off, shower, then head back without waiting for a bus or boat.

Both the Boardwalk and Beach Club are great options, especially if you own or can rent DVC points. The Swan and Dolphin are also great options. They’re nearly half the price of the Disney resorts and you won’t need a meal plan if you are going to the Festival, anyway. While the rooms definitely lacked the Disney theming, it was a great spot for a one- or two-night stay.

I’ll be sure to post some more info as we get closer. It’s definitely an exciting time at Disney!
