Tomorrow is July 1st—can you believe it? I always love booking my family’s ADRs, as it means we’re only six months away from our Walt Disney World vacation. July, August and September is usually filled with piecing together our days, waiting for additional park hours to be released and preparing for our FP+ reservation window to open.
July is usually the “hotbed” for Christmas news. It truly is “Christmas in July” as Disney often begins to release information about dessert parties, Candlelight Processional narrators and New Year’s Eve events.
I guess Christmas is coming early, as Disney has started releasing information about the Candlelight Processional, as well as a New Year’s Eve event.
According to Disney Parks Blog, tickets for the Candlelight Processional are now available. The event boasts an impressive list of narrators, including Neil Patrick Harris, Whoopi Goldberg and former Orioles great, Cal Ripken Jr.
Disney also released information about a New Year’s Eve event. Signature Restaurants, like California Grill, Narcoossee’s and Victoria & Alberts, often host special prix fixe menus and events on New Year’s Eve. The cost is steep, but for those willing to splurge and looking to forgo the parks, it’s quite the affair. Last Year, Yacht & Beach Club hosted an awesome 3-part event, which included a comedy show, dancing and a dinner.
While it’s not clear whether more events will be announced, Disney just released information surrounding one New Year’s Eve event, to be hosted at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
According to Disney: This ticketed event will take place December 31, 2016, beginning at 8 p.m. at the hotel’s Convention Center. There, guests can ring in 2017 in the Fantasia Ballroom by dancing to music spanning from the ’60s to today, and trying “best-of-the-best” bites and wine pairings fromCalifornia Grill, Flying Fish, Cítricos and Narcoossee’s. Guests can also enjoy the group Alter Ego as they perform their extravagant music- and dance-filled revue, then stroll outside to catch a unique musical act playing songs of today with a retro twist. The event will be highlighted withMagic Kingdom Park fireworks viewing and a champagne toast. There will also be themed photo backdrops and props to help you capture the memories of the evening and receive a souvenir to commemorate the night. Plus complimentary transportation will be provided for select Walt Disney World Resort hotels.
While Disney hasn’t released a price for the event, some have speculated that it will cost around $225. Honestly, that’s not too ridiculous of a price. When you think about it, a theme park ticket for EPCOT or Magic Kingdom will run you right around $100-$110. Then, you’ll have to buy food and deal with enormous crowds. The event allows you to escape the enormous crowds and ring in the New Year in a much more cozy and intimate atmosphere.
How will you ring in the New Year? Will you head to the parks or check out one of Disney’s events? Have you ever done a New Year’s Eve event?
